Wintoad-BEV-Guide

A How-To Set Up BEV-WinToad Emulation

Step 1

First of all, programs you will need will be Bev-Wintoad and NagraEdit3 from the files section. Now make a directory on your C:\ and call it Wintoad and unzip the .ZIP file into that directory and these files that are in green should be in the Wintoad directory Bev381 bin, Rom3, Wintoad.exe and Allbev7.bin in the folder. Next you would download NagraEdit3 if you haven't already and unzip it also and load the AllBev7.bin by going to FILE, OPEN FILE IMAGE and select the AllBev7sept2002 file and after you press the OPEN button you should get a little box that will pop up showing you which rom to choose, Rom2, Rom3 & Rom10, you will want to choose the Rom3 dot than after press OK. If you get an error that pops up saying "Free Space In The Data Space Appears To Be Corrupt" just press the YES button and you should get this in NagraEdit in the photo I have posted below.

Now after that is showing on your screen, at the top you will see a bunch of tabs all lined up. Click on the Data Editor tab and type in your IRD# in hex code, in order to get a hex number of your IRD# you will have to go into Windows Calculator and make sure it is set to Scientific Mode and to get the hex code of the IRD#R00 xxxx xxxx-00 you will want to put in the numbers that I have displayed with XX's into the calculator and than press on the HEX Dot in Windows Calculator than it will display a Hex code. Now the Hex Code has to be 8 characters long if you have 6 or 7 Characters in your hex, you will need to add a "0" "Zero or Zeros" at the beginning of the hex code to make 8 characters. Now after you have that hex code in on the first line in Data Editor, next line you see will be where your Boxkeys will go in, now you don't have to worry about putting your boxkeys in Windows Calculator considering they are already hex'd for you. Now after you have IRD# (Hex) and Boxkeys in now enter in your Time Zone after time zone is entered in. Go to FILE and SAVE CARD IMAGE and you will want to rename the file to "eeprom.bin" without quotes and for Save As Type you should have ALL FILES selected there which I will show below in the picture.

After you click on the SAVE button and you have your Wintoad directory chosen for the bin to go into you will want to follow the next step on how to get Wintoad running itself. Please note that the DN380 bin you see in the photo, don't place that into your Wintoad directory if you are running Bell ExpressVu so just ignore that file.

Step 2

We are almost finished, we need to create a .BAT file to make Wintoad run a bit easier for you so Wintoad will run automatically instead of going through the directorys and typing in the commands through dos to make it run. Now we will put this file on your Desktop and will show you how to create a .BAT file. Make a text document by Right Clicking on your Desktop and go to NEW than Text Document than what you want to type in the text document will be in this photo below. The commands in this photo below will only work if you have Wintoad in C:\

After you have that into a text document, go to FILE, SAVE AS, FileName: DishWintoad.bat, and for where it says Save As Type: ALL FILES than click on the Save Button, remember to save this to your Desktop. Now if everything has gone correctly and you double click on the DishWintoad.bat file on your desktop you should see this pop up.

Now if this screen comes up for a quick second than disappears than you will have to Right Click on the .BAT file you made and go to EDIT and make sure the name of the directorys are correct, a small spelling mistake will make this screen only stay up for a second so make sure your spelling is correct and also make sure the Wintoad directory is in the C:\. Now you are all set to run Wintoad Emulation.
